Pam's All-New Accident
This is my car from the front. What a heartbreak. It was such a good little car, and I really sunk money into keeping it running well. Hyundais are hard to find used because their owners don't want to part with them. They're great on gas mileage and very reliable. The police claimed that they found 26 feet of skid marks behind my car, but I don't see them on this photo. I saw about 6 feet of skid marks on the scene, but the officers were apparently counting both the black marks and clean pavement leading up to it (which I didn't notice). It's amazing how little skidding slows down a car. The pavement might have been dirty as it hasn't rained for a while. I probably should have just braked hard without skidding, but the shock of the other vehicle pulling out so close to my car just make me jam the brakes down instantly as a gut reaction.

After deciding that I'd hit the other driver at about 20 mph, the officers on the scene plugged these figures into their formula & said I was going about 31 mph (in a 30 mph zone) when he pulled in front of me. This sounds about right, as I usually watch my speed and remember driving slowly that day.
